LUCINDA (CINDY) ROFF
Lucinda Roff served on the faculty of The University of Alabama School of Social work for 38 years, 17 of them in the role of dean. She helped establish and served as director of the University’s Center for Mental Health and Aging. Her academic research focused in the area of aging, and she published a textbook and dozens of professional papers in the field of gerontology. A graduate of Yale University, Prof. Roff earned her master’s degree in social work from the University of Wisconsin and her doctorate from the University of Denver. In her retirement she was ordained as a deacon in the Episcopal Church, where she coordinates community outreach programs for Canterbury Chapel in Tuscaloosa, AL and serves as mentor for a four year, graduate-level Education for Ministry class.
