JAMES M. HOUSTON

James M. Houston (M.A., Edinburgh, D.Phil., and Oxford) is founding principal, former chancellor and emeritus professor of spiritual theology at Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia.  He is the author of some forty books including: A Vision for the Aging Church: Renewing Ministry for and to SeniorsJoyful Exiles, Believe in the Creator, The Transforming Friendship, In Search of Happiness, The Heart’s Desire, & The Mentored Life. He is co-founder of the C.S. Lewis Institute. Dr. Michael Parker and a distinguished board of trustees and partners have established the James Houston Centre for Faith & Successful Aging, an applied non-profit aimed at helping congregations develop ministries to and from seniors and those who care for them. Notable as well, the Chairman of the Board of Regent College has been in discussion with the President of the University of British Columbia to create a joint new venture, The James Houston Centre for the Humanities, which will separate from Regent, yet participating with Regent at a much higher level. The Centre will have its own board of governance, new faculty, focused on doctorate degrees, dealing with the new issues of artificial intelligence, sexual and genetic engineering, etc. This is the second Centre named in honor of his academic contributions in theology.  This second academic Centre is unprecedented in the history of secular /Christian academic co-operation. For now the New Centre will be able to collaborate with other mayor universities. Dr. Houston is already involved in the creation of two, new Christian Universities in Paris and Shanghai.
