MAUREEN O’NEILL

Maureen O’Neill is currently the Director of Faith in Older People which has the aim of ‘developing a stronger understanding of the importance of the spiritual dimension to the well-being of older people’. Maureen has worked in the voluntary sector in Scotland for the past 40 years with a focus on older people and ageing; mental health, and disability. Prior to this she supported specialist medical and nursing associations. She represented Scotland and the voluntary sector on the European Economic and Social Committee and was President of the Social Affairs Section. In addition to work commitments she has been a member of a range of governing boards for voluntary organisations and currently chairs a care home and serves on Voluntary Health Scotland and the Royal Society for the Support of Women of Scotland. She participates in the research and education programmes for Faith in Older People. Maureen was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s New Years Honours in 2019 for services to older people and the voluntary sector.
