PHIL BISHOP

Phil Bishop is a Graduate of the US Naval Academy, James Madison University, and the University of Georgia where he earned a Doctor of Education. Phil and his wife Brenda have five children, all of whom are UA alumni. He has been a faculty member of the University of Alabama since 1984, and a full professor since 1994. He has over 170 refereed publications and over 320 professional presentations. He has mentored 45 Ph.D. students as dissertation chair. He has been a visiting scientist at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, a visiting professor at the US Military Academy, a visiting researcher at the Swedish National Winter-Sport Center and served as a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Botswana (Jan-Dec, 2013). In 2006 he was selected as UA’s first Paul W. Bryant Professor of Education. He serves as a frequent reviewer of research manuscripts, and grant proposals and as a expert witness. He speaks frequently across the USA and abroad.
